Neodymium (Neo) Disc Magnets (rare earth magnets) are considered the strongest in the world. The N52 magnet is three inches in diameter, 0.75 inches thick, and has a pull rating of 353.2 pounds. The diameter is about the distance across the four fingers of your hand and a little thicker than one of your fingers. When this magnet clamps onto something, it will take a force greater than a 353-pound pull to get it loose from the magnet. That is strong!

But this great power does not come close to the power that holds us to God after we are born again. We have been begotten unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We have an inheritance that is incorruptible and will never fade away.

Jesus described our security this way. "I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." (John 10:28-29). Romans 8:38-39 tells us that nothing can separate us from God's love, which is in Jesus Christ our Lord.

When Peter says that we "are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time," we can trust Him without reservation. We can rest in that assurance and rejoice in it, even when we go through immense trials and temptations.

"Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:" (I Peter 1:5-6 KJV).

Kept By The Power Of God - Dale Buchanan

These short daily devotions help us remember the important truths of what being followers of Jesus is all about. It's a designated opportunity for everyone in the building to stop and reset their minds. This dedication of time set aside for personal reflection becomes habit-forming for students and teachers. They become filled up by the Word every day and come to miss this calm beginning on days when school is not in session.

There are many more benefits. You could certainly add to this list. But the bottom line is this: Don’t give up on daily devotions. Don’t whip through them. Don’t let them get crowded out by other demands.

Brick upon brick a building is built. Lesson upon lesson a degree is earned. Stroke upon stroke a painting is created. Your devotions may have seemed ordinary today, but God is making something extraordinary through it. Press on. Don’t short-change the process.
